“I believe in the healing practice of yoga”

Alia began practicing yoga to manage back pain caused by chronic scoliosis. Throughout her 23 years of practice, she has studied many styles, including Bikram, Power, Ashtanga and Vinyasa. After practicing Hatha/Affirmation Yoga for 3 years, Alia found a style that resonated deeply with her, and began a mentorship with noted Northern CA Registered Yoga Therapist Kristen Dessange. By practicing with devotion, humility, and humor, she was able to recover from spinal surgery, rotator cuff surgery, scoliosis as well as overcoming depression and anxiety.

Using yoga and mindfulness worked so well for Alia that once her son was diagnosed with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder, she knew that yoga would be highly beneficial to his development. After seeing the benefits of yoga reflect in her sons’ everyday life, she was inspired and became passionate about making yoga accessible to ALL children.

The practice of yoga provides an amazing opportunity for children to lead a more connected lifestyle and cultivate mindfulness while building confidence. Just the very act of mindful breathing alone can teach children to manage the spectrum of emotions that they are faced with in their day-to-day activities.

Certified through Asanas for Autism and Special Needs in 2023 and Kidding Around Yoga in 2018, Alia has taught at numerous wellness workshops and lead after school and summer programs in the Montessori community and Woodinville Sports Club. She completed her 200-hour training through Yogaworks in Buzios, Brazil 2012; and has completed 300 hours of study as a yoga therapist with Niroga Institute in Berkeley, CA 2013.
